Factors Affecting Illumination of Glow Sticks

Glow sticks are the excellent light sources for celebrations and emergencies at night. Various sizes and colors of glow sticks can be used for these purposes. However, there are certain factors which affect the illumination of glow sticks. Have a look on them.

As it is known, the light from glow sticks is due to the chemiluminescent reaction between the two different chemicals present in them. It is the quality of chemicals which vary the light emitted by the glow sticks. High quality chemicals of glow sticks give a brighter illumination when compared to low quality ones. Some glow sticks are available in cheaper prices with low quality chemicals. Hence, consider the quality first but not the price to enjoy a brighter illumination of glow sticks. Larger glow sticks have larger amount of chemicals and hence, give a bright light for a longer time. But, it depends on the quality of chemicals. A longer glow stick with low quality chemicals can give a dim light for longer time. However, it is not that effective.

The illumination of glow sticks also differs with the color. Glow sticks are generally available in different colors such as blue, green, red, pink, yellow, orange, aqua, white and so on. However, green, yellow and orange are more brighter when compared to others. These glow sticks with bright illumination are used mostly for emergency and safety. However, they also enhance the decorations in night parties and celebrations.

The other factor is the temperature. With rise in temperature (by heating), the chemical reaction speeds up. So, a brighter light is given by the light stick. However, it lasts only for a shorter time. In contrast, when the glow sticks is cooled, the reaction occurs slowly giving a dimmer illumination for a longer time. With these different factors affecting the illumination, consider purchasing the standard glow sticks for various uses.
